Do I have to change my phone number?
No. You can keep your current phone number or receive a new number if you so decide.
Do I have to cancel service with my existing local and long distance company?
Your existing service must be cancelled. While we at Cory Communications will work with you as you transfer service to your new provider, ultimately you are responsible for making the cancellation.
We remain involved in the service transfer throughout each step. We request that our clients call us as soon as they receive their first bill from the new carrier. This bill indicates that your new vendor is fully in place. We will then remind you to call your prior service provider to cancel your service. (Interestingly, the new provider’s bill is the first and best confirmation that your service is completely in place. You will receive the bill even before Cory Communications is notified of the transfer.)
Because you will most likely transferring both your local and long distance service jointly to a new carrier, we will also ask you to cancel your prior long distance service at the same time. This will require separate calls to each of these service providers, if your prior long distance service was provided by a separate carrier.
How long does it take to hook-up or change service?
It takes approximately 6 - 14 business days to hookup or switch service.
Can I switch telephone service if I have DSL, T-1, Internet Service internet service?
Yes, in most circumstances you can change your telephone service, with no disruption to your existing high-speed internet service.
Can I switch local service if I have Dial-up or Cable Modem internet service?
Yes, Cable Modem service and Dial Up internet services will not be affected by changing your local phone company.
Can I change my calling plan or features whenever I want?
Generally yes. Feature and plan changes can easily be made by calling the service provider. However, certain plans do carry term commitments, which means you are locked in until the term expires. As always, we recommend you contact us at Cory Communications to discuss all of your options. If you have decided to make the change, we will review your current situation, place the order for you and coordinate the changes. This saves you time.
