From where can I use my VoIP?

From anywhere you have a high-speed connection. This can be from your offices, on the road, at your home - truly anywhere with high-speed access.

Can I use my computer while I talk on the phone?

Yes. Although you use a high-speed connection for your VoIP calls, you can continue to connect to the internet through your computer for other internet activities.You can even download a phone to your computer, plug in a USB head phone into your into your USB port, and make calls via your computer - all at the same time that you are using your VoIP service through a separate hand-set.

Does my computer have to be turned on?

No, but your high-speed Internet connection needs to be active.

How do I receive phone calls through VoIP service?

Pick up your phone when it rings : ) It really is as simple as that. You use VoIP services just as you use your traditional phone services.

Are there any taxes and fees?

While each company may charge a federal access fee, taxes and fees are generally much lower than traditional lines.

Can I transfer my telephone number to the new service?

Our VoIP plans allow you to transfer your existing number to the newVoIP service. However, we recommend keeping one stripped down (minimum features) local phone line, Your service may be expedited if you keep your existing number with your stripped down traditional phone, and accept a new number for your VOIP service. When we place the order, we can discuss with you the approach that will best suite your firm's needs.

Can I take my phone adapter with me when I travel?

Yes. You can take and use your VoIP service wherever you travel as long as you have a high-speed Internet connection available. If you are traveling abroad, you will also need a power converter.

Keep in mind your number is associated with the address you establish service at, so 911 does not follow you to the location from where you will be calling. It is important that you read the provider's disclaimer on 911 service. Cory Communications assumes no liability, since we do not have any control over whether, or the manner in which, calls using 911 Dialing service are answered or addresses by any local emergency response center. Cory Communications strongly recommends that you read the carrier's terms and conditions with respect to 911 services before purchasing, and before traveling with your SIO phone.

Can I use your service with my home security alarm system?

Yes, you can. But we recommend that you keep a basic telephone line to support your home alarm system.

I thought internet based phone (VoIP) calls would be free?

In theory, calls made completely through the internet have little or no cost. So, until all telecom users adopt VoIP, virtually all of your call recipients will answer through a landline or cellular phones, and such calls have to completed via a traditional phone network. Because of this, the VoIP company has to pay termination charges to the phone companies. Ultimately, you are responsible for these termination charges. Even with these charges, VoIP usage is far cheaper than traditional telecom service.

Can I dial 911 Emergency from my VoIP phone?

In our opinion, you should not rely upon any VoIP company to provide 911 service. We recommend that you maintain stripped down local service with a local phone provider to give you 911 access.
